Meeting the needs of our meeting expert
Melanie Seagrott, Labour Coordinator at Pegasus has been selected to attend an intensive four day training course in Sydney in May which is considered industry best practice for those who lead group meetings and information sessions.
In her role in the Employment Division at Pegasus, Melanie is often called on to coordinate large group interviews, toolbox talks, inductions and other gatherings which can involve up to 50 individuals.
The Future Facilitators Program is an invitation only course and is widely recognised as a confidence builder and management tool for people who are required to regularly address groups from 3 to 300.
This training course is hosted by industry expert, Andrea Shaw on behalf of the Mine Safety Advisory Council (MSAC) through funding it has secured from the Department of Primary Industries.
This course covers six core modules and more than 30 different topics. The core modules are:
- Guiding group work
- Group process techniques
- Planning a session
- Conducting a session
- Dealing with groups and individual behaviour
- Initiating and influencing change
Melanie is looking forward to heading to Sydney in a few weeks to attend the course.
“It’s great to be selected to attend the course and also that Pegasus, who have always been proactive in upskilling their staff, didn’t hesitate to accept the invitation,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to learning how the experts get the most from their meetings, receiving feedback on the way I manage people and interacting with others who have similar roles to mine. I’m sure it will be personally rewarding and beneficial to the Employment Team here at Pegasus.”
