Vaccine Compliance Management and Site Access Control

As COVID-19 infections spike in NSW, VIC and ACT, and vaccination numbers increase across Australia, many workplaces are looking for ways to manage access to their sites and capture data on vaccinated workers.

If you work in an essential service industry, or the vaccination of your workers is mandatory, managing who can attend your work sites and see who received a COVID-19 vaccination will help you:

  • Make sure your workers aren’t at risk
  • Ensure your site is safe
  • Manage your public health risks

Here’s how Pegasus can help you

Our construction clients like Lendlease, Laing O’Rourke, ACCIONA and Bouygues have worked closely with Pegasus to manage which workers can access their projects in line with Public Health Orders.

Using the Pegasus platform, a worker’s COVID-19 digital certificate can be uploaded to their profile as proof of vaccination. We can also manage site access based on a worker’s residential address if they live outside a local government area (LGA) of concern.

This helps your workers, contractors, and your organisation to adhere to government rules and evolving requirements.

What’s a COVID-19 digital certificate?

According to Services Australia, digital certificates are issues after all required doses of a TGA-approved COVID-19 vaccine.

At the time of writing, these are Pfizer and AstraZeneca (Vaxzervia).

Workers can find proof of COVID-19 vaccinations using either their:

  • Medicare online account (found in myGov)
  • Express Plus Medicare mobile app

If they aren’t eligible for Medicare, they can still get proof using the Individual Healthcare Identifiers service (IHI service) through myGov.

What is the benefit of collecting this data?

Collecting this data allows you to manage risk by preventing access to those not allowed on site. The information can then be reported on and reviewed in the Pegasus Client Portal.

How do I manage worker compliance with this information?

The advantage of our software collecting this information is its ability to help you manage worker compliance before, during and after a worker is on your site. This is how.

  1. Before Site

Pegasus enables clients who are managing workers in our systems to add evidence of any vaccine. This can be linked to their profile, and their site access role; no vaccine, no site access. Simple.

You can add ‘Evidence of COVID Vaccination’ or ‘Proof of Residence’ as a requirement of a Site Role to comply with government requirements.

This is the really important part—these documents will be marked as Private. Only users with special permissions can view these documents—helping you securely manage worker’s private data.

  1. At Site

You can implement Access Keys to only allow compliant workers on your site.

During the induction process, workers can be checked for compliance before being approved site access. This is a fundamental step in meeting government requirements around vaccination in certain industries and adhering to restrictions for workers from certain LGAs.

For industries and areas where the government has implemented 72-hour surveillance COVID-19 testing, site admins can utilise the Pegasus system to manage compliance.

Need to test workers on a regular basis? We can do that too!

Pegasus has customisable Safety Selections that can be used to select workers for Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) when they come to site. The random selection can be used to test either a percentage of workers or all workers. We can also block workers from accessing site until their RAT has come back negative.

  1. On Site

When requirements change, site access requirements can be updated with the help of Pegasus.

Vaccine Competencies can be added/removed/renewed by site to manage access on a worker-by-worker basis. There does not need to be a blanket rule.

In the event of a positive COVID-19 case on site, you can use the data in your Pegasus platform to find the workers on site, as well as the times and dates attended to manage your outbreak response and for reporting to the Health Authorities.

Worker Blocks can be used to help manage site access which can be useful:

  • if a worker tests positive for COVID-19 and works across multiple projects,
  • to manage access for close and casual site contacts
  1. After Site

Using the data in your Pegasus platform, you can run historical reports to determine when workers have been on site.

From within the Client Portal in your Pegasus solution, worker access can be removed or managed if their situation changes—once they’ve provided their COVID-19 digital certificate or in the event of a new LGA of concern.

As we continue to co-exist with COVID-19, Pegasus is committed to helping our clients manage the risks that the pandemic has introduced to essential workers and industries.
