Training workers in the mining industry has been highlighted as one of five compliance priorities by the NSW Resources Regulator in the first half of 2022.
When it comes to workplace safety, you want the people working for you to be the right people for their roles (through training, skills, licences and qualifications).
The NSW Resources Regulator, the state’s work health and safety regulator for mines and petroleum sites, has listed onboarding training for new workers as one of five key compliance priorities they will focus on from January to June 2022.
A Key Compliance Priority
From NSW Resources Regulator, Compliance Priorities, January – June 2022:
There is a constant flow of new workers into the mining industry and moving between mining operations. A vital step in maintaining a safe workplace is the training, assessment and supervision of workers to ensure they are trained and competent. New workers at a mine can range from those new to the industry who are unfamiliar with mining equipment, operation and processes to experienced workers moving to a new mine.
The focus of this assessment will be on the processes in place and supervision arrangements for new workers. This assessment will be conducted across all sectors reviewing the standards mines have in place.
Training Your Workforce
Managing workplace risk is more important than ever.
A simple yet effective way to do this is to make sure the people working for you are qualified to carry out their roles. When was the last time your workers undertook training to work for you? Is it time for a refresher?
This is where Pegasus Induction & Learning Management comes in.
