Pegasus Rail Industry Worker Solution Update

As you are aware, the Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Program will transition to Metro Trains Australia (MTA) on 27 June 2019. Pegasus would like to clarify our position in the rail industry following the transition.

Currently, Pegasus operates on more than 90 different rail-related projects across Australia. Some of these projects are rail-only projects and others combine with civil construction projects that do not require their workforce to register for an RIW card. Following 27 June 2019, these projects will continue to operate with Pegasus.

Pegasus will recognise all current RIW cards on these projects as well as the new RIW cards provided by MTA. The card will be read by readers on our kiosks, tablets, turnstiles and gates. Workers should see no change to their current experience – they will simply be swiping with another card.

In agreement with MTA, Pegasus will integrate with the new RIW system to extract the records of workers with a new RIW card on registration or renewal. When registering or renewing, the worker will be asked to supply their new RIW number and their RIW roles will be populated electronically from the new RIW system.

As has been the case for the last seven years, Pegasus will continue to be a competency management system compliant with Rail Safety National Law. Pegasus will rebrand the current Rail Industry Worker Portal to be called the Rail Safety Worker (RSW) Portal as it was originally named in 2012.

Given that Pegasus will no longer issue RIW cards following the 27 June 2019 deadline or use the RIW brand or logo, the new RSW cards will provide an alternate solution to the RIW card, still compliant with the Rail Safety National Law. Some Rail Operators and Rail Infrastructure Managers may choose to use the RSW cards to manage the competency of their workforce.

Pegasus will send stickers with the new Rail Safety Worker logo to all existing RIW cardholders to place over the RIW and ARA logos so the card can still be used on projects.

Commitment to Safety: Port Waratah Partners with Pegasus

Port Waratah Coal has been receiving, stockpiling, blending and loading coal for export at the Port of Newcastle for over 40 years.

As both an industrial site and an international port, their operations fall under Federal Security Legislation, which means their commitment to safety is not just a company mandate, but also a legal one.

To underscore and strengthen this commitment, contractors working for Port Waratah Coal Services will now be managed in an online Induction and Competency Management System, powered by Pegasus.

The Induction and Competency Management System is a streamlined way for Port Waratah to manage contractor compliance and information in one online location.

In the system, contractors register their workers when their induction is due for renewal, entering information about their work roles and qualifications. Each worker will be able to complete an online induction when theirs is due for renewal, replacing the time-consuming current process.

Pegasus is proud to partner with such an established organisation to improve their current process!

Everyone Safe, Every Day: Thiess Partners With Pegasus

Health and safety underpins everything Thiess, the world’s largest mining provider, does.

Thiess believes safe projects are successful projects. Their objective is to keep everyone safe every day.

To underscore and strengthen this core commitment, contractors working for Thiess must now register in an online Workforce Management System, powered by the Pegasus Mining Solution.

How does the system work?

The Workforce Management process at Thiess is completed in two parts: business registration and worker registration.

First, contractors register their business, answering questions about their work and providing documents like licences and insurances for verification.

Next, contractors register workers, selecting the role each employee performs, and uploading their qualifications. This information is verified, and workers are given an ID access card to work for Thiess.

Visit thiesscontractors.com.au for more information about workforce management at Thiess with Pegasus.

Improving System Performance with Role Consolidation

Role consolidation will improve system performance when creating roles in Onsite. Some of our clients create their own roles, and will soon enjoy a more streamlined and efficient process to do so. With a faster system and fewer touch points, those clients will save several minutes per role they are creating.

An additional benefit of role consolidation is ensuring the role management process is seamless. That means when a worker’s profile is awaiting verification, and a role change makes them non-compliant, their application will be efficiently returned. Instant role compliance management will improve communication to the user, advising them exactly what has changed within the role.

Although role consolidation doesn’t impact clients who do not create their own roles, they can be assured this improvement is a foundation for future enhancements!

ALDI Goes Live with Pegasus in the West

ALDI requires invited contractors to reach compliance in the system before they can be allocated work.

Please visit the ALDI Contractor Site for information about the system aldicontractors.com.au

Contractor Information Website Refresh: NCIG

We hope contractors find the new NCIG contractor site layout simpler to navigate so they can find what they’re looking for faster.

Sections are dedicated to explaining the process to register and book inductions. The Help and Resources page includes updated user guides to step new and returning contractors through any part of the system.

The system can be found by clicking the LOGIN button from any page.

Reducing Administrative Workload with Pegasus

What is the greatest benefit of working with Pegasus?

Bounty’s main benefit of working with Pegasus is having a single system that manages all company and worker information for us. From this we can ensure our workers are compliant to safely work onsite. Another great benefit […] is that we can use Pegasus and create it to our own site standards.

How has using Pegasus improved your business?

We have had improvements in many areas of our business including; managing worker qualifications and competencies to ensure they meet Bounty standards, being able to electronically monitor and control access onto site, having all worker personal information all in the one system, managing fatigue levels, and lots more.

Improvements:

Our inductions: having Pegasus, we have been able to create an online induction from pieces extracted from our onsite familiarisation. This has been a huge advantage for us for many reasons; including that we could cut-down on our onsite familiarisation package as well as giving the workers an insight on Bounty Cook Colliery before they arrive.

Competency management: before Pegasus we had a poorly kept competency matrix system for our workers onsite which we had to manually update, manage and control ourselves. Pegasus helped us improve our competency management system by simply managing it for us. Using the alerts that are sent out automatically for upcoming expiring competencies and running reports for those expired, we were able to track down several contractors who weren’t compliant with Bounty’s standards as a part of their role.

How has Pegasus changed the way your business operates?

Bounty utilises Pegasus for all services it provides allowing the workload to be taken off our employees.

As we are a fairly new business re-opening an old mine, we are still trying to find our feet and Pegasus has certainly been a huge step forward in the way we operate and manage our business.
